RecessKids Writing Competition
Here’s your chance to impress Dr. Abdullah Hakim Quick and win a brand new NINTENDO DS! Use your imagination and write a fun and interesting story that revolves around any important Muslim land during the Islamic Golden Age (7th – 15th century).
Write the story from the perspective of a famous Muslim, introduce a fictional character or write it from a bird’s eye view, it’s your choice! If you travelled back in time and entered a famous Muslim city from the past, what would you see? What made the land you’re writing about so special?
Examples of important Muslim cities during the Golden Age of Islam:
- Alexandria
- Ancient Mali
- Cairo
- Baghdad
- Grenada
- Qayrawan
- Qurtuba (Cordoba)
- Seville
- Timbuktu
- And much more!
RULES & INFORMATION
1. You must write about any Muslim city or land that had significance in the Golden Age of Islam.
2. The story should not exceed 500 words.
3. Submission deadline is February 4th, 2012.
4. Only ages 15 and younger can submit an entry.
5. Open to residents of all countries.
6. No purchase necessary.
7. All participants receive a free gift from RecessKids!
8. The winner will receive a brand new NINTENDO DS and have their story published in the April/May 2012 edition of RecessKids Magazine.
9. Use your imagination and make your story as interesting as possible!
