Working extensively in the Montreal Muslim community at Muslim summer camps and weekend schools, Monzir and Afifa -- husband and wife -- noticed that kids they were teaching had little access to modern Islamic literature that was catered to their interests and needs.

Dr. Abdullah Hakim Quick

Dr Abdullah Hakim Quick is a historian, social activist and religious leader of African and Native American descent. He has travelled to over 58 countries doing research and delivering lectures to various communities. His qualification in Islamic Studies comes from a BA from the Islamic University of Madinah and his history background is shaped by an MA and PhD from the History Department of the University of Toronto, Canada.
Sheikh Navaid Aziz

Hailing from Montreal,Quebec, he obtained a degree in Economics and Social Science. There after he went to the Islamic University of Madinah where he spent three years attaining an associates degree in Arabic before attaining his Bachelor's Degree in Shari’ah. Sheikh Navaid serves the community as a marriage and youth counselor. Be sure to follow him on his Facebook page.

Dr. Fyeza Hasan

Dr. Fyeza Hasan studied medicine at the University of Bristol in the United Kingdom, specializing in pediatrics. She has worked extensively with children from across the world and has volunteered her time to provide medical assistance to needy children in Africa. Dr. Hasan also volunteers her time with local Muslim groups to help the poor and needy, as well as educate Muslims and non-Muslims about Islam.
Skilled with her hands, she also has a passion for pottery and knitting!
Farheen Khan

A talented writer, Farheen Khan is a children's author and illustrator that is involved with home-schooling initiatives in Toronto, Canada. Farheen has authored several kids' mystery novels under the "Ibrahim Khan" series. Her books are available in Chapters, Indigo and online stores such as Amazon.
Sarah Amro

If you like animals, you and Sarah Amro will get along swimmingly! Having a passion towards animals since she was a child, Sarah Amro is an Animal Health Technician. She likes to educate people about animals whenever she has the opportunity and is an excellent horseback rider herself! Sarah is also a mother of two and it's only a matter of time before they learn how to ride horses inshAllah!
Arssal Shahabuddin

A valued contributor and dedicated member of the RecessKids family, Arssal Shahabuddin has been with us from the start! Arssal has studied for years under different shuyukh in Montreal and is an active member of the community. Whether it's teaching new converts about Islam or volunteering with local groups, Arssal is always ready to help his fellow man.
Did we mention that he's a scientist?! Arssal has a MA degree from Concordia University in Biology and is one smart pea (mashAllah)!
Umm Zunairah

Umm Zuniarah is a mother of two that has helped organize and teach at girls' camping trips and girls' halaqas. Through her past experience, she's learnt the best ways to keep young minds active and engaged.

Shireen Patel

Another member of the RecessKids family that has been there from the start, Shireen Patel is a passionate mother of three that LOVES to have fun! She was the brains behind Muslim Child, a Muslim enfants clothing line based out of Toronto, Canada.
She never shies away from helping those who need it and continues to be a source of delight to RecessKids everywhere with her witty humor!
